How a laser scanner works -

 


Purchased the 15K scanner set off of ebay -15K scanners


The seller is a top seller and very helpful. If money is no object then they do 30K and 40K scanners, which are real professional bits of kit and can do very complex scanning.

These are bottom of the range scanners, but are very impressive and can do some amazing effects. The set comes with everything needed to start scanning except a laser, these scanners use a TTL output. The scanners come with pre-programmed effects on a DMX, if you wish to draw/make your own effects/show then you will need a DAC. There are a range of DAC's on the market, some very expensive. Im going to be using an I-top USB DAC which also comes with its own software -

To house the scanner and lasers im using a flight box, its very easy to work with, but is a bit like cardboard and tin foil. These type of boxes are perfect for housing, there pretty big and can hold the scanner and RGB laser modules.


This is the box complete with my 100mw green and 200mw red laser inside, its a bit messy and needs tidying up, which i will do later. Everything that runs off the mains (240v) i have fused.
